The place
A spectacular DNT self-service cabin on the western flank of the Okstindbreen, at 1,008 metres elevation (Helgeland, Nordland, northern Norway), with 360° views and exceptional sunsets. Open year-round with a DNT key. Main building with 16 places across three rooms, a dog room with kennel, and a loft with mattresses; indoor toilets, woodshed, small washroom, well-equipped kitchen with gas stove and oven, cosy living room with wood stove. Four-place emergency shelter (sikringshytta) with two 120 cm bunk beds, small gas stove and small wood burner. Fastest access via the T-marked trail from Innerdalen in Brygfjelldalen, via Sjurfinnheimen (shorter but steeper) or via Slegda (longer but gentler).
A bit of history
Cabane non gardée gérée par Hemnes Turistforening (association DNT locale), ouverte toute l'année, accessible aux membres DNT avec la clé DNT. Financée en partie par les excédents de Norsk Tipping. Sur le flanc ouest du glacier Okstindbreen, commune de Hemnes, Nordland, 1008 m d'altitude.
