Godley Hut

The place

Standard eight-bunk hut maintained by the New Zealand Alpine Club, open to the public, in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, Canterbury (South Island, New Zealand), at 1,104 metres elevation. Booking required via shop.alpineclub.org.nz; Backcountry Hut Passes and DOC tickets are not accepted. No DOC-marked track: self-sufficient navigation required with map, compass and GPS. Unformed river crossings: do not cross in flood, check NIWA flow data before departure. Navigation and river-crossing training recommended through the Mountain Safety Institute.
