The place
Glitterheim is a DNT (Norwegian Mountain Touring Association) mountain cabin located in the Veodalen valley, in Jotunheimen (Norway). Built in 1901 by architect Hjalmar Welhaven, it stands at 1384-1390 m altitude at the foot of Glittertind, Norway's second-highest peak. A staffed cabin with 137 places, one of the DNT's most famous and popular, at the heart of Jotunheimen National Park, surrounded by 2000 m peaks. No access road: reached on foot or by ski. An excellent base for climbing Glittertind.
