Gite de Vers le Col

The place

Alpine pasture hut at 2140 m on the left bank of the valley, at the end of a driveable track below the hamlet of Vers le Col, near the GR 5 and the Chalets des Ayes (Queyras). A large building split in two: one part strictly reserved for the shepherd and locked, the other permanently open to hikers. Sleeps around 16 across upper and lower sleeping platforms (the ladder to the upper level is sometimes missing). No mattresses or blankets, but sturdy toilets on the left side of the building, and a water point with a tap against the hut. Cast-iron stove, table and chairs.
