Gite de Chercheliot
The place
Sleeping spots planned: 8 A spring 400 m below the cabin (according to the map) To find the spring, go left of the cabin (relative to the front door), 40 metres further there's a loop to the left, go down at a right angle into the loop on the left, a faint trail that descends steeply for about 350 m; the visible spring is 5 metres to the left below the trail... The climb back up is significant, so bring containers accordingly! A fireplace, no mattresses, a saw, a broom and a shovel. A low table and two benches. The cabin now also has: - hammock hooks upstairs - a single-seat bench on the ground floor - a deckchair and outdoor furniture - crockery, games, slippers, books... - a new guestbook - etc. Thanks to the association "tous à poêle": https://www.tousapoele.org/ The bookshelf installed can still be added to — feel free to leave your reading material there! After the Gâts hydroelectric plant, go straight on toward Bornes. 1.5 km further, the road crosses a bridge, and 500 m further still, a faint path crosses a field and climbs to the head of the valley; climb up to the col de l'Airnoux and from there reach the cabin in 750 m. > the fastest access is by parking at the hameau des Reyssets on the Borne road. Allow 1h climb (300 m of ascent), fairly steep at first, then along a scenic balcony path up to the col de l'Airnoux. The trail is marked yellow and green, and signs have been added. > a pleasant loop is possible via the abandoned hamlet of Serre (return via the hameau de l'Eglise) — signs have also been put up at the start of the path to the hameau de Serre It can also be reached from the gorges du Rio Sourd via the sentier des Gardes or from the Serre Chomille or the Col de la Porte, using a bit of route-finding skill ONF refuge (Sapet state forest)
