The place
Unmanned bivouac at 2,455 m elevation in the territory of Pennapiedimonte (Abruzzo), owned by the CAI Chieti "Majella" section. Six sleeping places, always open. The historic structure was built in 1975 on the initiative of Dr. Carlo Fusco, chief anesthesiologist at Chieti hospital. The old building was entirely replaced in summer 2019 with a new yellow structure visible from a great distance. The fiftieth anniversary is celebrated in 2025.
Getting there
Access via the Sentiero del Parco from the Rifugio Bruno Pomilio, or via trails G7 and G9 through the "passaggio obbligato" and the Anfiteatro delle Murelle.
