The place
Fuglemyrhytta is Norway's most-visited urban tourist cabin, set at 390 m altitude on the west-facing slope of a small hill at Fuglemyra, a short distance from the panoramic Vettakollen viewpoint, on the edge of Oslo. Designed by the Snøhetta agency, it is a self-service cabin with 10 sleeping places split across two rooms, plus a common room with a lounge area, kitchen and drying room. Managed by DNT Oslo og Omegn, leased from the City of Oslo (Urban Environment Agency). Shortest access from Skådalen metro station via the blue-marked trail; from Vettakollen station, 2.7 km. Day visits are not allowed due to high traffic, but the veranda remains accessible to enjoy the view.
