The place

Vaulted hall at 135 m in front of a former lime kiln, about 2.3 km north-west of Thenezay (Deux-Sèvres, Nouvelle-Aquitaine), at the place called La Forêt. Broken-barrel vault rising to about 8 m, south-facing opening giving basic protection from bad weather for a hiking break. Wooden picnic table nearby but outside the shelter. No water, no latrines, no sleeping accommodation. Industrial lime-production heritage converted into a shelter on the GR de Pays des Marches de Gâtine.
