Fondsbu
The place
Staffed DNT hut located in the historic village of Eidsbugarden, at the western end of Lake Bygdin in Jotunheimen National Park (Norway). Main building fully renovated in 1993, an annex added in 1999, totaling one hundred beds (17 double rooms, 10 quadruple rooms and 26 beds in two dormitories). Founded in 1932 as "Den Glade vandrer" then bought by DNT in 1993 and renamed Fondsbu. Warm hospitality, hearty meals, hostess Solbjørg Kvålshaugen since winter 2002. An excellent base for the network of marked hiking trails and ski routes in southwestern Jotunheimen, with access to the surrounding peaks and glacier tours.
Getting there
Summer road access via Tyinkrysset then the Eidsbugarden road. Boat M/B Bitihorn on Lake Bygdin from Bygdin. In winter, marked ski touring from Tyin.
