The place
Small log DNT cabin in the forest between Øverby and Byhaugen west of Gjøvik (Innlandet, Norway), at 381 m. Former hunting cabin over 100 years old, once used for holiday stays. 4 bunks (two rather short). Unstaffed cabin locked with a DNT key, open year-round. No stove, water must be brought. Aside from new mattresses, the original standard has been preserved. Outdoor clearing area with tables and benches. A nice outing for families with children. Managed by DNT Gjøvik og Omegn, warden Halvor Bjaaland.
