The place
Self-service DNT cabin (ubetjent) at 397 m, idyllically located near the Fallåa in the Romedal allmenning (Hedmark, Norway), about 3 km north of Malungen on the Rondanestien. Capacity 6 beds. Built in 1951 for loggers: a testament to the history of timber floating in the forests of Hedmark. Gas stove, wood stove, kitchenette with table and stools, solar panels for charging phones, 12V power supply. Blankets, pillows and duvets provided (bring your own sheets from June 2026). Woodshed and outdoor latrines. Mobile reception available. Dogs allowed (dedicated enclosure). Open all year. Summer access: 3 km on foot from Malungen or via toll road. Winter access: snowmobile track from Harasjøen. Standard DNT key required, membership of at least one member of the group required.
