Flora Hut

The place

DOC hut in the Mount Arthur area of Kahurangi National Park (Nelson/Tasman), at 929 m, 75 km from Nelson and 36 km from Motueka. Two rooms of 6 bunks each, open fireplaces, water point from the stream via an outdoor tap, long-drop toilet. Bring a sleeping bag, utensils, fuel, toilet paper and firelighters. Free hut. Easy, short 30-minute walk from the Flora car park; access via Graham Valley Road, narrow and gravelled, 4WD recommended year-round (chains in winter). Connections to Mt Arthur Hut (1 h 15) and Salisbury Lodge via the Tableland Circuit (4 h). Family-friendly.
