Flaggerschartenhütte - Rifugio Forcella Vallaga
The place
Alpine refuge at 2481 m on the eastern ridge of the Sarntal Alps (South Tyrol), beside the small, enchanting Flaggersee. Also known as Marburger Hütte or Marburg-Siegener-Hütte (German) and Rifugio Forcella Vallaga (Italian). The decision to build was taken in 1910 by the Marburg and Siegerland sections of the DAV-ÖAV, with support from the Brixen section; construction in 1913, inaugurated in 1914. Has a winter room. Serves as a base camp for the Sarntal Hufeisentour, a 6-7 day traverse of the eastern and western ridges of the Sarntal Alps. Since 2015, joint management involving AVS, CAI, and public authorities. The shortest approach is from the west from the Durnholzer See via the Seebbachtal, taking around 2h30 to 3h.
