Backcountry cabin set at 1767 m in the Kootenay region (British Columbia, Canada), in the Canadian Rockies near Kootenay National Park and Kootenay Lake. A remarkable location in the Canadian subalpine backcountry, on the fringe of the great Rocky Mountain national parks (Kootenay, Banff, Yoho — UNESCO's "Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks" site since 1984). A basic building for fishing and backcountry enthusiasts, often managed by BC Parks or local outdoor recreation federations. An exceptional Rocky Mountain setting: mixed boreal forests (spruce, fir, lodgepole pine), remarkably clear glacial lakes, snow-capped peaks. Iconic wildlife: black bear, grizzly bear, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, Rocky Mountain marmot, bald eagle, osprey. Located on the fringe of the Kootenay's major canoeing and trekking routes.
