The place

Fannaråkhytta: A Gem atop Norway Fannaråkhytta (2068 m of altitude), at the summit of Fannaråki, is the highest DNT cabin in Norway. This cabin is open and accessible to hikers during the summer season, from late June to mid-September. Outside this period, the cabin is closed. Access and Practical Information Access: From Skogadalsbøen, Sognefjellshytta, Krossbu and Turtagrø. History: Two main cabins have stood on Fannaråken. The first was built in 1926 as a weather station for the west coast; the DNT cabin was erected in 1934. The weather station was staffed year-round until 1978, and now serves as a shelter. The old DNT cabin was extended in 1999 and is used as a common area and for services. Blending into the Environment Fannaråkhytta fits seamlessly into the Norwegian mountain landscape, offering effective protection against strong winds and extreme temperatures.
