El Cubo

The place

Open hut at 800 m in the Basque Country, in Navarre (Spain), in the Orreaga-Iratiko oihana protected area. Capacity 11 people, summer and winter, fireplace, wood and water available. Meant to accommodate hikers for one night during a mountain traverse. Access from Spain via a small forestry track from Ochagavía (50 km east of Pamplona), leading to the Irati hamlet. According to visits (June 2023), the hut was empty but the roof in one corner was very damp and affected by mould; dampness already reported in 2017.
