The place

Small hikers' shelter built by the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve on the Rohneska polonyna (high pasture), at 1475 m in the Chornohora massif, on the south-western slopes of Mount Petros (Zakarpattia oblast, Rakhiv raion). The site lies between the springs of the Rohneska and Harmaneska streams, which go on to form the Bohdan River, a tributary of the White Tysa. Hoverla (2061 m) rises to the east, Petros (2020 m) to the north-east, and Sheshul (1726 m) to the west. On the polonyna, a wooden chapel built in 1993 by residents of the village of Bohdan keeps company with the shepherds who spend the summer there with their livestock.
