The place
A lodging yurt at East Canyon State Park, northeast of Salt Lake City on the Wasatch Back (Utah). The park runs four vinyl-lined canvas yurts set at the north end of the lake, above the campground. Each yurt has a wood floor, a deck, electricity, heating and air conditioning, with beds, tables and chairs for up to six people. Full equipment: thermostat-controlled propane stove, coffee table, deck with picnic table and gas barbecue. Restrooms with drinking water and hot showers nearby. Open year-round, bookable up to four months in advance, two-night minimum stay. At 1737 m elevation, the park offers summer coolness and winter activities (cross-country skiing, snowshoeing).

Road access from Morgan or Salt Lake City. Booking via Utah State Parks (up to 4 months ahead), 2-night minimum.
