The place
Alpine refuge at 2721 m in the Ortler Alps (South Tyrol), in the heart of the Laaser Berge in the Zaytal (side valley of the Suldental). Founded in 1892 by the Düsseldorf section of the DAV-ÖAV; after 1919, management passed to the Italian CAI. 65 beds plus a 6-space winter room, open from June to October. Also known as the Zaytalhütte. Access via trail 5 from Solda in switchbacks, gaining 300 m of elevation, with the refuge visible from a distance.
