Dunns Creek Hut

The place

Basic 4-bunk DOC hut at 706 m in the Kelly Range, Styx River area (Hokitika region, West Coast, NZ), on the edge of the Dunns Creek basin in the Taipo valley. Free access, downstream route from Mid Taipo Hut along the true left bank of the Taipo River, crossing Hura Creek, then climbing through the bush to the Dunns basin. Connects to the Newton Saddle and Newton Creek Hut, then the Arahura Track.
