Dulyn
The place
Bothy managed by the Mountain Bothies Association, located on the shore of Llyn Dulyn in the Carneddau range (Eryri / Snowdonia National Park, Wales). Built in the mid-1880s in connection with the lake's use as a reservoir, it was occupied for nearly a century as a shepherd's hut before being recognized as an official bothy. The building has two rooms: a common room with a fireplace and a dormitory with about 12 spaces. Llyn Dulyn, nearly 58 m deep, has characteristic dark water; the rugged surrounding terrain still bears traces of several World War II plane crashes, sometimes visible at low water.
Getting there
From Dolgarrog (Conwy valley), a loop of about 9-12 km via Llyn Dulyn; a classic combination with the Carneddau traverse.
