Basic DOC hut in Hakatere Conservation Park (Canterbury), at 944 m. 3 h (10 km) access from the Lake Heron car park, on Hakatere Heron Road; 8 h (16 km) from Comyns Hut. Firewood on site limited — do not cut vegetation. Free, except for Te Araroa walkers, who must purchase the trail pass.
