Dôme
The place
Dôme in Charlevoix, Saint-Urbain/Saint-Aimé-des-Lacs area (Parc national des Grands-Jardins, Quebec, Canada), at 676 m of altitude, on the Charlevoix plateau. Part of the continuous Quebec/Charlevoix cluster (batches 234-357). A SÉPAQ refuge in the Grands-Jardins ("Dôme" being a characteristic rounded, glacially formed summit), in an area of boreal fir-white birch forest + the Grands-Jardins park, 600 km², an outlying pocket of subarctic alpine tundra at the exceptionally far south latitude of 47°N, once home to reintroduced forest caribou (1969) which went extinct there again by 2010 despite the efforts + the Charlevoix impact crater (an astrobleme 400 million years old, 54 km in diameter, the 5th-largest on Earth, with villages of the Charlevoix/Baie-Saint-Paul area arranged along its ring) + the heritage of the Ilnu (Innu, Pekuakamiulnuatsh, Lac-Saint-Jean, 5,000 people).
