The place
Дом егерей (Gamekeepers' House) in the western Chatkal/Ala-Too mountains, Jalal-Abad/Naryn region (Kyrgyzstan), at 1889 m elevation, in the western Tian Shan range. A gamekeepers' house within the Sary-Chelek Nature Reserve (Chatkal Biosphere Reserve, UNESCO 1978). Area of wild walnut forest (Juglans regia, the world's largest wild walnut forest) and ancestral apple trees (Malus sieversii, ancestor of the domestic apple).
