Bivouac du Dolent

The place
A hexagonal bivouac at 2667 m above La Fouly in the Val Ferret (Valais, Switzerland), managed by the Swiss Alpine Club - Gruyère section. Designed to shelter mountaineers attempting Mont Dolent (a summit on the France-Italy-Switzerland border) and the Gallet ridge. Capacity of 12 beds, blankets, cushions, USB socket, lighting, cooking utensils, holder for a gas cartridge (gas not supplied). Glacier water nearby, decent mobile signal 10-20 m from the building. Open year-round, no reservations possible, no warden. Access in 3h from La Fouly via the white-red-white waymarked trail; ski touring via the Combe des Fonds in spring.
The setting
Bivouac situé à 2667 m d'altitude au-dessus de La Fouly, dans le Val Ferret. Construction distinctive en forme de « soucoupe volante hexagonale », orientée vers le Grand Combin visible au loin. Point de départ pour l'ascension du Mont Dolent et de l'arête Gallet.
