The place

Cunojávrihytta is a DNT hut located north-east of the Narvikfjellene, at 709 m elevation, not far from the Swedish border, on the western shore of lake Čunojávri (Nordland, Norway). On the E1 route and the Nordlandsruta. Three buildings plus an outbuilding: the main building (Storhytta) has three rooms totalling 6 beds and a sleeping loft in one room; the Sikringshytta, opened in 2017, has 2 rooms with a double bed (120 cm) and a bunk bed (75 cm) plus a loft for 3 people; the old annex houses 3 drop-in places (outside the booking system). Open year-round for DNT members (DNT key). No mobile coverage. DNT Narvik keeps a boat on site. Historic site: refugees fleeing to Sweden during the Occupation converged here; the Norwegian resistance burned down the old main building to thwart German operations.
