The place

Small, basic two-bunk bivouac managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in the Kokatahi and Whitcombe rivers area, West Coast (South Island, New Zealand), Hokitika sector. Free access. The approach route is not maintained by the DOC: the Permolat association carries out occasional maintenance and publishes up-to-date information; further resources are available on the Remote Huts website. Basic bunks only, bring your own equipment.
