The place

Small stone refuge set at around 1150 m in the Sierra Sur de Jaén, near the Cañada de las Hazadillas, in a peri-urban area of the Monte de Jaén. Very well preserved, fitted with a fireplace, capacity for about six people bivouac-style. The site serves as a natural balcony over the valley and the Quiebrajano reservoir, facing the La Pandera massif (1872 m) that rises to the south. A classic starting point for the Matamulos and Matamulillos summits. Access from Jaén via the Puente de la Sierra road, then turning left after the Otiñar castle to the Cañada de las Hazadillas recreational area.
