Connors Creek Hut

The place

Standard DOC hut with 6 bunks in the Upper Wairau River area (Nelson Lakes / Nelson-Tasman), at 830 m elevation. Landscape transitioning between the vast tussock and scree of the Clarence River and the steep beech-forest-covered mountains. High-clearance 4x4 access: from St Arnaud, 8.4 km east towards Blenheim, turn off onto the Wairau-Hanmer Springs Hydro Road, 27 km to the Homestead (toll), then 1 km further before turning right onto the 4WD road, final 1 km to the hut. No booking. Fees (until 30 June 2026) NZ$10/5 adult/youth via Standard Hut Ticket (honesty box) or Backcountry Hut Pass. Map NZTopo50 BS25 (E1590508, N5349627).
