The place

Standard-category DOC hut with eight bunks (on platforms) at 727 m in Ruahine Forest Park (Manawatu-Whanganui). Facilities: water tank, wood burner. In October 2021, the hut was refurbished by Backcountry Trust volunteers: new roof, paint, and a new wood burner. Rate NZD 10 per adult per night, NZD 5 for ages 5-17, free below that, payable via standard hut tickets or the annual Backcountry Hut Pass. No bookings. Map BK36, NZTM2000 E1869392, N5603979.
