The place
Chozo Quemaculos in the Sierra de Gredos, El Barco de Ávila/La Solana area (province of Ávila, Castile and León, Spain), at 1581 m elevation, on the granite sierra's northern slope. A chozo (traditional dry-stone shepherd's hut with a conical broom-thatch roof) used during the summer grazing season by shepherds of the trashumancia (transhumance). Scots pine and Festuca indigesta grassland zone, habitat of the Iberian ibex (Capra pyrenaica victoriae).
