Shepherd's chozo at 1421 m in Castile and León (Spain), near the peaks Pico de la Devesa and Peña el Cinto. Traditional limestone construction used as shelter by transhumant shepherds while tending their flocks in the high pastures. Vernacular architecture emblematic of the Montaña Palentina and the Castilian sierras: carefully stacked stones, sometimes topped with a roof of slate slabs or turf. Rustic emergency stopover for hikers, a living witness to Cantabrian pastoralism.
