Chozo del Hospital
The place
Traditional shepherd's chozo of the Montaña Palentina, on the northern border of the province of Palencia with Cantabria. A small dry-stone structure typical of the shepherd shelters dotted across these high Cantabrian foothill pastures, where seasonal transhumance has shaped the landscape for centuries. The area has been the subject of a restoration programme by the Brañosera town council and the Junta de Castilla y León to preserve these remnants of pastoral heritage, now used by hikers on the ridge routes toward the Pico Curavacas and the Valdecebollas.
