The place
Traditional free-access stone hut at 1,890 m, on the grounds of Real Sitio de San Ildefonso, about fourteen kilometres from Segovia and seventy-five kilometres north of Madrid. Located at the foot of the Peñalara massif in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park. Eight places, free access with no key required, an essential shelter from bad weather in the mountains. Traditional handmade construction known as a "chozo", a former shepherd's shelter still used by hikers and climbers.
