Chamanna Georgy
The place
The Chamanna Georgy is a privately run hut-restaurant at 3175 m altitude, 80 m below the summit of Piz Languard, above Pontresina in the Engadine (Grisons). It is the highest mountain hut in the canton of Graubünden. It offers 20 dormitory beds and is run by Céline Egli and Simon Thaler. The summit of Piz Languard is reachable in 30 minutes from the hut, for an exceptional panorama over the Bernina range. The site is named in memory of the Leipzig painter and illustrator Wilhelm Georgy (1819-1887), who stayed in the original small hut between 1854 and 1858. Ibex and marmots are very common in the area.

From Pontresina, a marked trail with a steady climb at the foot of Piz Languard.
