The place

Small square building at 1621 m in the Bauges massif (Haute-Savoie), commune of Giez. Built in August 2003 using breeze blocks and a timber frame, concrete floor. A single room with a table, 2 benches, a stove and firewood available as planks to be cut, to be used sparingly. Average insulation due to the materials, but 3 windows all fitted with shutters and a front door that closes well. Water point 20 m away. In summer, goats and dogs liven up the place without being a nuisance thanks to a fence in front of the hut. Flanked by the two giants of the Bauges, the Arcalod (2217 m) on the left and the Trélod (2181 m) on the right, with a view over Lake Annecy.
