Chalets de Corniens
The place
Two buildings at 1393 m on the northeast slope of the Borée-Mémises massif, at the far north of Chablais (Haute-Savoie). One is closed and belongs to a hunting association. The other is a sheepfold with the refuge section at one end. The refuge contains a stove, 3 mattresses on bed bases, 2 tables with chairs and benches, a pot with utensils, plenty of firewood. Fountain beside the chalet, drinking water uncertain especially when livestock are present. Upstairs, two empty rooms that can hold about ten people without mattresses. Access in about 2h30 from Novel via the Col de Blanchard, also accessible from Les Mémises. Near a chairlift, winter access presumed possible. According to an August 2018 visit, the refuge was dirty and covered in graffiti.
