Chalet ruiné de Talamarche

The place

Old ruined chalet at 1590 m in the Bornes-Aravis range (Haute-Savoie), with a few walls still standing, overgrown with vegetation, and a non-potable water reserve. On a lightly used and poorly maintained trail, between the Refuge de Larrieux (30 minutes) and the Col de l'Eau (15 minutes); also accessible from the Crêt des Tervelles via a more frequented trail. In an emergency, a small 2 m by 2 m shelter (the former cheese cellar) built of stone and partly underground can accommodate 2 people, dry but without comfort. Never closes. On the routes toward the Pointe de Talamarche.
