The place

Former alpine chalet at 1109 m in the Bauges massif (Haute-Savoie), restored in 2013 by the municipality and volunteers, maintained since 2019 by the association Tous à Poêle. Large building divided into several rooms, including one of 100 m² unheated with 2 large freestanding tables. The refuge part comprises a large room with a wood stove, dining area, sofa corner, mezzanine accessible via a ladder. Shelves with crockery, large tables and benches, broom, shovel. Guestbook on site. Outdoor dry toilets (bring sawdust), sheltered barbecue, bench to enjoy the view, small fitted fountain. In the depths of winter, water from a well in a small shed above the chalet towards the forest (direction Les Trois Bornes, about 100 m). The name "Trousset" comes from the word "Trosse", which referred to a bundle of young trees tied together to bring them down a chute, which the current path still crosses in several places.
