Chalet du Stahlberg
The place
The Chalet du Stahlberg is an unstaffed cabin at 830 m elevation on the heights above Wegscheid (Doller valley, Haut-Rhin), at the edge of the Forêt des Volcans, on the ridge. Built in 2000 as a log cabin (fûste) by loggers from the valley, it belongs to the network of Chalets de la Doller. A stove inside allows for warming up during breaks. Open all year round and free of charge, with no booking possible. Access from Wegscheid via a blue-triangle marked trail, a sustained climb of about 3 km taking 1 hour. Motor vehicle access strictly forbidden.
