The place

Communal cabin open to all hikers, set at 520 m in the central Vosges (commune of Lutzelhouse, Bas-Rhin, Grand Est). Built in 2019 by municipal workers using wood from the communal forest — a fine symbol of local forestry self-sufficiency. A notable spot on the Faïencerie circuit (green ring) and on the Pays d'accueil du Donon trail (blue diamond), 500 m from the former Couvent quarries. Contact: Town Hall - 55 Rue Principale, BP 6 - 67130 Lutzelhouse, tel. 03 88 97 40 24. Typical Vosges forest setting: beech-fir woods, Club Vosgien trails, cultural landscapes of the central Vosges. Iconic wildlife: roe deer, wild boar, red squirrel, tawny owl, black woodpecker, red kite. Located on the edge of Mont Donon (1009 m, a historic sacred Gallo-Roman summit) and the major Club Vosgien routes in the Mollkirch-Schirmeck area. A pleasant stop on the family loops of the Pays d'accueil du Donon.
