The place
Basic wooden shelter at 479 m on the Plateau de Langres (Côte-d'Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté), right next to the famous karst site of the Creux Percé — a 63 m deep sinkhole with two underground networks (Guillemin and Piot). Open building, without a door or window glass, but offering good protection in case of rain or for an emergency overnight stay — packed-earth floor. According to a report from July 2020, in generally good condition despite the lack of a door and shutter. Notable location near the Grottes des Célerons, another major geological site on the Plateau de Langres. Typical forest setting of northern Côte-d'Or: downy oak groves, beech woods, springs and abundant karst resurgences. Emblematic wildlife: roe deer, wild boar, badger, fox, bats in the nearby caves. Located at the heart of Burgundy's caving heritage, a stop on the trails exploring the Langres karst.
