The place
Private chalet at 850 m, 400 m west of the Ferme Durand, on the trail linking the Barrage des Engins to the Saint-Nizier-du-Moucherotte plateau (Vercors, Isère / Drôme border). Positioned on the eastern edge of the Vercors massif, on the major traverse routes of the Vercors Regional Nature Park. Private building — restricted use, a visual stop only for passing hikers. Remarkable forest setting of the eastern Vercors: high-altitude beech-fir forests, spectacular gorges of the Engins and the Furon, open panorama over the Grenoble plain and the Belledonne range. Iconic wildlife of the Vercors Regional Nature Park: roe deer, wild boar, chamois (reintroduced), golden eagle, peregrine falcon. A prime spot for family loops linking Saint-Nizier-du-Moucherotte, Engins and Sassenage. A possible stage on the themed trails of the Vercors between the Isère plain and the high plateaus.
