Chalet de Varambon

The place

Unstaffed but monitored refuge at 1400 m on the Haute Chaîne du Jura, near the commune of Collonges (Ain), at the heart of the Réserve naturelle nationale. No electricity or water. Consists of a large room, a mezzanine and a small room; equipment: stove, table, benches, a few plates and glasses. Inaccessible from the south during wildlife quiet periods (15 December – 30 June). Dogs forbidden, even on a leash. Check the signage before setting off.
