The place

Unstaffed alpine chalet at 1779 m in the Belledonne massif (Isère/Savoie). 12 mattresses (10 inside, 2 on an outdoor mezzanine). Wood stove, saw, axe, broom, utensils, cookware, candles, large indoor table with benches. Outdoor tables: one stone table (6 seats) sheltered in front of the door, another (4 seats) in front of the chalet with no shelter. Camping possible nearby, but the pasture is overrun with nettles and dock. Fountain in front of the chalet often dry in August, September or winter — primed late (sometimes around 21 June) and often dried up by late summer.
