Chalet de l 'Avuxon
The place
Chalet de l'Avuxon is an unstaffed shelter at 815 m altitude in the greater Vosges (Hautes-Vosges range, France). Aging structure but still a good shelter: a table with two benches and an attic. Water source 300 m from the shelter; abundant deadwood due to successive storm damage in the forest. A fountain just before the chalet, made from a pipe carrying water from a stream to a basin hollowed out of a tree trunk. Access from Vécoux towards Chaudefontaine, then right towards Pré Noël before arriving, then towards the Tête de l'Avuxon, about 40 minutes.
Getting there
