The place

Group of chalets at 1719 m in the Bauges massif (Haute-Savoie). In the building used as a cowshed, upstairs under the roof, a large dormitory with about fifteen beds with worn mattresses, reached via a wooden ladder. A small room separate from the dormitory holds 2 extra beds near the ladder, on the right as you climb up. Access in about an hour on foot from the Sambuy resort car park in summer, or from the Col d'Orgeval (1h max); about 1h50 on snowshoes from Sambuy. Free access all year. Outside the hunting reserve's no-access zone — bivouacking possible nearby.
