Chalet de l'Aulp de Seythenex
The place
Sleeping places planned: 12. Places on mattresses: 12. Group of chalets. In the building used as a cowshed, upstairs, there is a large dormitory under the roof with a few beds (just over ten) and somewhat worn mattresses, reached by a wooden ladder. This shelter is freely accessible year-round. A small room, somewhat separate from the dormitory, also has 2 beds (near the access ladder, on the right as you go up). No other particular comforts, no heating. No insulation whatsoever, though you do sleep above the cows and goats... (in season) and get a bit of the smell too! Plenty of water at the fountain. Cheese (goat tommes) sold at the chalet in season. In summer, allow an hour on foot from the Sambuy resort car park, and also an hour max from the Col d'Orgeval. On snowshoes, it takes about 1h50 of walking to reach the Aulp de Seythenex chalets starting from the Sambuy resort car park.
