The place

This pastoral cabin had not yet been recorded as a shelter. It is now served by a forestry-pastoral road whose final section was opened two years ago and ends right here; note that it is closed to any vehicle other than forestry or pastoral ones beyond the Charmettes barrier (1347 m). A good alternative to the Cabane du Col de l'Arc in case of a late ascent or poor conditions... it can be reached at least on snowshoes. A quick look inside shows that nothing is missing for a mountain-goer! This cabin is occupied from 15 June to 15/20 September by a shepherd who had left the place with his flock on Saturday 19 September 2010. No axe, no saw. Water cut off in winter. Winter water supply possible at the stream 100 m below, taking the service track to the cabin. Warning! Since the renovation, only the living room is accessible, the sleeping area being closed off and reserved for the herders. Keep this in mind. On the route to the Chalet du Col de l'Arc, via a forest track from Necuday.
