Chalet de Côte Enverse
The place
Unstaffed alpine chalet set at 1780 m in the Lauzière and Grand Arc massif (Savoie), on the edge of the upper Bonnard valley. A well-equipped building: large wood stove, firewood nearby, mattresses on bunk beds, moderate insulation with minor drafts, table and benches. A popular stopover for hikers and skiers on a bivouac stage. A remarkable location on the summer-grazing pastures of the Lauzière-Grand Arc massif, on the edge of the major routes linking the Beaufortain to the Vanoise. A mineral and forested setting of the high Savoie valleys: larches, subalpine grasslands, panorama over the Pointe de la Terrasse, the Pointe de la Grande Journée and the Aiguille Croche (2487 m). Iconic wildlife of the Lauzière sector: chamois, marmot, golden eagle, bearded vulture, alpine ptarmigan, black grouse. A stage on the trails linking the Lauzière, Beaufortain and Vanoise massifs.
